One of the greens I have growing in my garden is lettuce. Instead of always using it in salad, I decided to put a handful in my latest smoothie to create this lettuce mango smoothie.
Normally when I add greens to my smoothies, I use kale since I have three different types of it in the garden. In the pineapple kale smoothie I used Red Russian kale. The kale cucumber smoothie had Happy Rich kale (also known as Chinese kale).
But back to the lettuce, I planted two different types in the garden this year. One is the green Black-Seed Simpson and the other is the deep red, Danyelle Lettuce. I like both of them but I decided to use the green lettuce for this particular smoothie recipe.
I did a remake of my mango smoothie recipe to come up with this lettuce mango smoothie. The kids and I really liked it. It was like a green tropical smoothie.
And because I used two mangos instead of one, there was enough for all three of us to have our own full glass of smoothie. Although the size of the glasses did depend on the size of the person. Mine was the biggest in case you were wondering.
