I started Listerine’s 21-day Oral Health Care Challenge on February 3rd, 2013.
My goal was to do the following for 21 days…
- Brush my teeth twice a day.
- Floss every night before bed.
- Use Listerine Ultraclean Antiseptic twice a day
So, how did I do?
Well, if this was a graded assignment I would have earned a 99%.
Every day I brushed my teeth, both morning and night.
And every night I flossed my teeth and twice a day I rinsed with Listerine.
Except one night…
When I accidentally brushed my teeth before eating dinner. That screwed up my nighttime routine and I forgot to brush, floss and rinse again before bed.
That’s why I didn’t earn a grade of 100%.
Although, I do think I deserve bonus points because I made sure that the youngest had her teeth brushed twice a day which is no small feat.
The oldest brushed her teeth twice a day and rinsed with Listerine Smart Rinse with no problems.
The two kids also had a trip to the dentist during the 21-day challenge and learned where they need to brush better.
What did I learn from this challenge?
That it really doesn’t take that much time to have good oral care habits. Brushing, flossing and rinsing are all easy to do.
My mouth feels better after the 21 days. No bleeding gums, my teeth feel clean, the kids say my breath smells good when I tuck them in at night (which is much better than them telling me I have a big butt).
It’s best to leave mouthwash on the counter so you remember to use it. My favorite flavor is the Listerine Ultraclean Arctic Mint.
I like regular floss that comes in the roll better than the flosser sticks. Easier to use for me and I feel like it gets in between my teeth better.
How you can join the challenge:
Want to get your oral health back on track? Join Listerine’s 21-Day Challenge. Plus, for every person who signs up for the 21-Day Challenge on Facebook, Listerine will make a contribution to Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America program which has a goal of connecting up to 210,000 children with needed oral health services this year.
I hope that you will all join in the Listerine 21-Day Challenge for better oral health. No one wants to pucker up to a dirty mouth.
I received products and compensation from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the Listerine 21-Day Challenge. All thoughts, opinions and pictures are my own.

I need to remember to floss more often. That is one thing that I forget about.

Try leaving the floss on the counter. It won’t look pretty but it will help you remember.
I keep floss in the car so I remember. Is that gross?
