In 2010 the husband built me a backyard garden. In 2011 we covered the lower part of the backyard with grass. In 2012 the husband (and some hired help) transformed the walkway in front of the garden from boring concrete to beautiful pavers.
So, it’s now 2013 and time for another backyard remodel project. Of course. This time we remodeled the patio area in the lower part of the backyard (no garden area was hurt in the making of this remodel).
Before pictures of the patio remodel
What we used for the backyard remodel
We decided to use Bel Air Retaining Wall from Belgard for the walls/sitting benches and Lafitt Patio Slab for the step and patio area.
All of the paver installation was done by Pavers by Porter. They said the project would take 4-5 days and they were done in 3. The owner was extremely friendly and cared enough to walk me through the work they were going to do and to ask my opinions. This doesn’t always happen when we have people working on our house.
After pictures of the backyard remodel
The new seating bench/wall/area for a table to eat outside.
Another little seating area/wall to block off the A/C.
The new step going down from the walkway to the patio area.
We have hardscape step and wall lights installed all over so we can see at night.
A close up of the Lafitt Slab Pavers for the patio area. There is talk of also putting in a fire pit…
And a shot of the whole area. Don’t mind the few wet spots. We had some snow the night before I took the pictures.
I’m really happy with how the whole thing turned out and I can’t wait for summer so I can sip martinis in my newly remodeled backyard while watching kids versus dogs on the grass as my garden grows.
If you are in the Northern Nevada area and looking to remodel your backyard (or front yard) I highly recommend buying Belgard Pavers from Parker Hardscapes, Nox Lighting for outdoor lights and Pavers by Porter for paver installation for patios, walkways, driveways and more.
Note, my husband and I are part owners of Nox Lighting but this is not a sponsored post and I did not receive compensation for mentioning these companies. I love my new backyard and I want to share.

I’m hoping we can redo our driveway soon with pavers. Would be so much nicer than what we have now.

Great job with the remodel, and you’re smart to complete it NOW rather than what we did (wait and remodel in the summer when you want to be USING that backyard).
Cheers to martinis on a beautiful June evening.
I’ll be over on the 22nd
I’ll be waiting for you. Martini in hand.
This looks great! I’m jealous of this custom backyard you are getting!

LOVE the new backyard. We were in the middle of ours when a neighbor called and we don’t have the proper permit. We are at a stand-still so I’ll just have to live vicariously through you. This makes me really, really want a margarita.

That sucks about your neighbor. Hopefully you can get everything resolved soon and back to working on the remodel.
Looking good!!
