Essence of Now: Expanding Our Brains

This week it has been all about the learning.

We received our second shipment of homeschooling books and added the subjects of Latin, drawing, and history to our curriculum.

The girls are enrolled in a homeschool enrichment farm school. They go once a week for a few hours (unfortunately not at the same time – oh those few hours of quiet time would have been so nice). Note the Angry Bird hat is still in rotation.

And when I’m not teaching the children, I’m busy working on improving my photography skills after purchasing a new lens, 3 new filters, a flash, and a wireless remote (in related news, photography is expensive).

Oh yeah, and I’m enjoying these Sweet Melon Martinis and Strawberry Margaritas over at One Martini at a Time. Can’t forget the drinks.

That’s about it for this week’s Essence of Now.

Wow…latin, history? I can’t even. My poor kids would not learn a thing from me. Good luck and have fun teaching your girls!

Photography is so expensive. I have my camera, a cute bag, and so far, that’s it. Maybe someday I’ll be able to get a new lens it something. Oh, but my birthday is coming up….

It sounds like homeschooling is going well! Wow, Latin!! I’m impressed.

  7. I think photography must be one of the most expensive “hobbies” out there. Almost a year ago, when I started realizing people would pay me to take their portraits–I thought OH GOODIE. Now I can fund my photog habit without draining our existing account :) So, now on the side a run a little biz. It’s been a fun journey. Anyway, wanted to say I am envious of your ability to homeschool. I love love love the idea of homeschool, just don’t think I’d be very good at implementing everything. I bet I could learn a thing or two from you :)

I totally want to get better at photography, just need some cash to take a class. I’ve tried to read up online but I am just more a hands on person who needs to be coddled when I don’t know what I am doing.

I found a class for photography around here at a local camera shop. It’s $79 for 3 hours so I’m going to try it out and see if it helps. I’ve really liked the book, Plate to Pixel, that I’ve been using.

For my 40th, hubby bought me a camera and I set out with my new hobby. It pretty much ended there because I soon found out how expensive it is. Love your pics and can’t wait to see more. Can’t wait to link up this week!

  15. Yes. Photography is a crazy expensive hobby. My husband nearly chokes every time I show him a new piece of equipment I want. :) I’ve never been interested in food photography, but I’ve always found it to be a crazy talent when it’s done right. And WOW. The curriculum?
