Summer is my favorite time of the year. But now it’s done with for 2012 and I’ve finally accepted that the hot, sunny days are over.
To celebrate the end of the very busy summer we had, we took a mini family vacation to Santa Cruz.
Production of the heirloom tomatoes in my garden have slowed but the cherry tomatoes are determined to drown me. I need whatever recipe idea/suggestions you’ve got for these little things. Please.
And since I had to put on a sweatshirt the other day I figured it was time to start decorating for fall. It was an all day event because it involved cleaning my sewing area downstairs that was a little out of control.
Oh, and speaking of the garden, I created a Chile Beso Margarita over at One Martini with the jalapeños I’ve been growing. It’s spicy. It’s sweet. It’s delicious.

I’m going to have to agree with the Caprese salad. I’ve become addicted to that.
Why does summer have to end? It’s so unfair.

I LOVE cherry tomatoes. I throw them in lots of different pasta type things, cut in half. Cold pasta salad with balsamic, cherry tomatoes, and feta is delish.

My husband doesn’t like pasta but the kids do. Maybe I’ll experiment with the tomatoes and pasta for them at lunch.
Those tomatoes are gorgeous! And yay for Fall. It happens to be my fave
I love the colors of fall, always so beautiful.

My neighbor used to make a salad…sliced them in half, feta, green onions, a little vinegar, maybe?
That sounds good!
I would just eat those tomatos, plain. But what about roasting them in the oven, then making a pasta sauce?
Nicole recently posted..SANTA’S COMING (in less than three months)
I have used them for a pasta sauce and I did roast some. Both were good.
I hate saying goodbye to summer, too.
That’s a LOT of tomatoes…they are so pretty!

I am most certainly not ready for fall or Halloween, but all good things do come to an end. Dang it!!

I love that pic of you and your girls! I’ve been loving cherry tomatoes on my pasta. I roast or saute a handful in some olive oil, salt, and pepper until they split open. Then I usually add some feta cheese and spinach and cook it until the spinach wilts, and pour it over penne or whatever noodle I’m using. It’s delicious and super easy (and doesn’t taste like tomatoes!).

A lot of people have suggested feta cheese with the tomatoes. I’ll have to try it.
