While I was speaking at the Reno-Tahoe WordCamp, the husband was charged with watching the kids. As compensation for his services, he was allowed to buy a new gun. Aren’t I a nice wife?
But of course, once a new gun is acquired, it has to be tested. So we piled in his new truck and headed up the mountains.
Since gun safety is very important, the big child was given lessons on how to handle a gun.
Once teaching was over, it was time to pull the trigger. Literally. As in, can you see the bullet in the air?
Layla declined her gun safety lesson and instead for observing in the truck while her eyes were closed (aka napping, yeah it was a long night after that).
And then…it was my turn. First I tried out the new 10/22.
And then I moved up to the AR. Holding this gun up is quite the workout for my arms or I’m just a wuss.
Even though the targets were bright pink, I missed all of them. I’ll blame it on the wind and the location of the sun. Luckily, the husband was right behind me to shoot down what I didn’t.
Of course, he blew up the target right after I put the camera away so alas there are no pictures of the tannerite explosion. But it went BOOM which was pretty awesome.
So remember, you best think twice before messing with the Torres clan.

My hubby would love your hubby. He is pro-gun, too… He actually used to be a pretty good competition shooter and has the trophies to prove it. I have shot a gun, alas it was bb’s only!!! (I’m too much of a chicken to use a real one. )

I shot a BB gun once.
My dad is so pro gun. One day, when I was living at home and having a bad day, he loaded up a duffel bag of guns to try to convince me to go to the shooting range. Like I needed a smorgasboard of guns

I haven’t ever held a gun but am not opposed to going to a gun range to say I once did it. I think I’d feel like a bad ass. I’d pretend I was one of Charlie’s Angels (Kate because she was the gorgeous brunette or maybe Sabrina because she was smart) or scratch that…I’d be Olivia from Law and Order: SVU. Hmmm…in my pretend world…I am a total bad ass. *Must get to gun range.

Whoa! You all are hardcore! We have a few of those locked up in various safes but not an AR. We have a friend who’s also an enthusiast and picked up the AR a few years back though, so I think my husband gets to go “play” every once in a while.

My hubby is s gun guy. He goes shooting a few times a month. He bought me a gun but I’ve only shot it once. My father never let me shoot (only my brothers) so it’s a totally new experience for me. I have a love/hate relationship with it.

wow, how very cool that you are teaching the girls about gun safety and reverence for them. While guns scare me, I know that (like anything ) you need to respect the power of something or it takes power over you. So glad you are teaching that lesson to your beautiful daughters.
