A couple weeks ago I mentioned in this post that my little monster likes to sleep with nail polish. So, I thought maybe I should tell the story of how my almost 2 year old became addicted to nail polish (or “purple” as she likes to call it).
As I mentioned here I am taking day classes at school now and we hired a nanny to come over and take care of the girls 4 days a week. (The nanny is also our neighbor but that’s not really relevant to the story, it just makes her more convenient).
The nanny carries a large purse (also, the nanny has been nicknamed “purse” by the little monster). So purse walks in the door with her large purse and immediately hands it over to the little monster. Inside purse’s purse there are always lots of goodies. One of which is a hot pink bottle of nail polish.
Ever since the day that my little monster discovered this wonderful bottle of hot pink nail polish she has been in love. She carries this bottle of polish or “purple” around everywhere with her. She even started bringing it into bed with her at night.
My little monster falls asleep with purple in her hand but as she drifts farther into sleep she slowly lets it go from her tiny little fingers. Then a couple hours into her sleep she wakes up crying out for her “purple”, the crying gets louder and louder until I find it and place it back in her hands. It has become her security blanket, the thing that keeps her safe and calm while she is sleeping.
So I have trouble sleeping at night because my almost 2 year old is addicted to nail polish.
P.S. Stay tuned for more stories about the little monster and her purple.

JDaniel has some interesting things he like to sleep with. He need tractor slippers in his bed. Nail polish is a new one for me.

I don’t have boys so no tractor slippers. We have had items such as babies, tea party, and books in addition to the nail polish in bed with us. I guess little ones just love their things when they sleep at night.
This is really adorable. And I love how you had to write “purse’s purse”. Funny! I guess it could be worse, pretty nail polish isn’t so bad to sleep with. Unless of course she opens it in her bed.

I was laughing as I wrote purse’s purse. We haven’t had any nail polish open in the bed yet, thank goodness.
Oh my goodness! What a cute story – I think I would be paranoid about “purple” being accidently opened and getting all over everything. How do you do it?

I never thought about the nail polish getting all over the bed I was more worried about her hitting me in the face with it in the middle of the night.
That is the cutest story! Although, if she ever figures out how to open it, it won’t be so cute ; )

Open nail polish and a toddler would not be cute. At.All.

How old is she?! Mine is doing that right now, only his is a little extreme and the collection he takes to bed with him keeps growing. But the biggies are his drink, legos & this stuffed animal that he loves.
She is 21 months. Her bedtime collection is also growing. In addition to the nail polish she has added a baby doll, juice cup, a bag of crackers, and a blanket for the baby. I have a king size bed but it is starting to feel very small with all of her things. Kids and their collections. Glad my little one is not the only one who takes stuff to bed.
That is really cute. Of course, I’m not the one finding the nail polish and putting it in her hand in the middle of the night.

It is a little frustrating in the middle of the night trying to locate nail polish while trying to sleep. I’m sure one day in the future I will read this post and think how cute, today not so much.
That is so funny! And so very original of her, I have never heard of anything other than blankets or stuffed animals. It sounds like she is a little trendsetter!
She is definitely very original. Some of the stuff she comes up with I have no idea where she gets it from. I blame it all on her dad.

That is too cute (or so I think)! Well, you know she is going to be a girlie girl!
This reminds me of when I tell my mom things about the girls and she finds it amusing. That is because she is not the one having to deal with them.
Good luck…maybe you can find a nail polish shaped pillow or stuffy?

Her favorite items are nail polish, purses, and baby dolls so I agree she will probably be a girlie girl. My poor husband, he is surrounded by girls. My mom always laughs when I tell her stories about my kids. She seems to find them a lot more amusing then I do.

Seriously, could she be any more adorable?!! I love the fact that she managed to choose such an off-the-wall object to be fascinated with. I am definitely looking forward to more blogs about your little monster and her purple

I have never heard of a kid that liked to play with nail polish. Even in the comments I received people were saying that there kids take items such as toys, stuffed animals, and slippers to bed with them…normal kid toys. Leave it to my child to play with an adult item. I have a couple more purple stories I’m working on…so stay tuned.
That is just too darn cute and so is your little one. Here’s hoping you get some sleep!!
